PIN Numbers
A PIN (personal ID number) is a four digit number you choose to protect the confidentiality of your library record. Your PIN is kept private and works in combination with your library card number (the number under the barcode.)

Confidentiality of Library Records
The confidentiality of library records is specifically addressed in the Texas Government Code, Chapter 552. This policy ensures the Flower Mound Public Library’s compliance with Texas Government Code, chapter 552, Public Information Act.
Any record that serves to identify a person or link a person with a request or use of library material or services is considered confidential and may only be released under a court order or subpoena.
Information from library records may be used by library staff when reasonably necessary for library business, such as notification of overdue materials or a hold request for materials, and the record is not confidential under other state or federal law.
Information from a library record may only be given to the person to whom the information directly relates or to the parent or guardian who has been designated as the one responsible for a child’s library use.
Protecting Library Card Accounts
If you have your card:
When you come into the library in person and present your card, library staff can answer any question you have about your record.
It is easiest to assist you if you are using your own card. Staff may not be able to provide all types of information over the phone when a caller does not have the library card number and the title or barcode number of the item(s) or due dates of the items involved. Library staff match and verify this information against the cardholder information that is on the record.
If you do not have your card:
In most cases, library staff can access your record with your Driver’s License (or by name for juvenile cardholders) and verify you are the owner by asking you questions about the information on your record. After verification, we can answer any questions you have about your account.
If you have someone else’s card:
When you come to the library in person and bring a valid library card belonging to a friend or family member, you will be able to:

To receive your PIN
Please send us an email request to Circulation Staff and include your address, phone number, and barcode number on your library card for verification purposes.
